Yesterday Mayor Cai Qi, joined by Vice Mayor Tong Jiali, met New Zealand’s Consul-General in Shanghai, Sui Xin, who led a commercial delegation to pay Hangzhou a visit.
Mayor Cai Qi welcomed Sui Xin and his delegation for their visit in Hangzhou. He said, Hangzhou is a scenic and tourist city with international reputation, and meanwhile a well-know city of culture, finance and ‘Silicon Valley’. E-business enterprises like ALIBABA, animation and video game producers like Zhejiang Zhongnan Animation Video Co. Ltd., service outsourcing companies as INSIGMA, all these are enterprises of both national and international importance. In the past few years, adhering to the principle of ‘building the city on the basis of pleasant environment’, Hangzhou has hold its development in accordance with the conception ‘creating best environment, attracting outstanding talents, developing first-class enterprises, and building world-class city’. Hangzhou desires to accelerate its step of internationalization and strive to equal the world-class cities. New Zealand is a beautiful country and has good trade cooperation relationship with Hangzhou. Hope we two parties could further enhance our cooperation, keep in contact, establish and perfect the trade cooperation channel so as to promote our development in economy and trade.
Sui Xin tendered his appreciation for Mayor Cai’s meeting. He expressed, New Zealand and Hangzhou own a good foundation of communication. And the New Zealand-China Free Trade Agreement has already come into operation. This is the only free trade agreement signed by China with western developed countries so far. It grants the businessmen of both parties a lot more favorable conditions in the area of trade and investment. Paying special attention on the cooperation with Hangzhou, New Zealand would like to introduce more enterprises into Hangzhou and promote the further economic and trade cooperation with Hangzhou.
